  18. Finally found out why some Sysops end up with a 0 byte KING.USR file.
  19. If you went into the KOBUTLx program and tried any of the User options the
  20. program created a 0 byte file, corrected this so now if the KING.USR file
  21. does not exist, it will be created.

  40. Well looks like I screwed up the Alias in the last release, had the test
  41. for the command line misspelled.
  42. If your BBS allows alias's and it is passed with the drop file then run
  43. this program with the /ALIAS on the command line to force the Door to
  44. use the alias instead of the name.
  45. Had quite alot of complaints that if a BBS had alot of users with the same
  46. last name you could not tell who you were. Well since I am only limited
  47. to 10 characters for the names there isnt much that I could do. So lets
  48. try this out and see what happens. This release will use the first initial
  49. of the users name and the rest of the last name to make up the 10 character
  50. name shown on the pyramid. This may make alot of you happy and maybe not.
  51. What I need is FEEDBACK on this change. If it's not working out then I will
  52. remove it.

  56. Tried to make some more adjustments for the boards that use Handles or
  57. Alias's. Not sure if this is going to help.
  58. Also some reports of scoring problems when using points.

  61. Well had nothing to do so I played with the door some more. Add some more
  62. graphics to the bulletins and pyramid display.

  64. Did have a report that after the question file had reached the end, the 
  65. NEXTQUES.DAT file was not being reset - Corrected that!

  67. Had some complaints from sysops running the Door on a 486DX/66 having
  68. "KeyBoard Timeouts". As it turned out its not this Door but any door that
  69. was compiled using DoorFrame libraries and compiled on a 486DX machine.
  70. It has something to do with the MathCo in each machine. I have tried
  71. something a little different in this release to see if it going to work.
  72. If you are experiencing this problem check this ZIP out for a file that
  73. will describe how to get around this running a Door.

  76. I have been asked in the past to support Aliases. Well I am going to give it
  77. a try in this release. If it dosn't work out, I may remove it. I need feedback
  78. from you folks!

  80. On the command line if you specify /ALIAS the door will look for the alias
  81. but if it dosn't find it then the users name will be used. This has been
  82. tested with DOOR.SYS so I am not sure what will happen with other drop files.

  91. A complaint was filed at BBS EXPO 94 that they had to press the "P" to play
  92. the game, well now it will default to either a "P" or ENTER.

  95. Also noticed that if a user elected to play and then before challenging 
  96. some one he/she decided to quit, the users stats would be updated so that
  97. he/she could not play anymore that day. Changed that so the users stats are
  98. updated only when he/she elects to challenge another player.

  102. Seems some users found out that if they drop carrier in the game the last
  103. date did not get updated. Corrected it so that when the user elects to play
  104. the date last on gets updated. Sneaky little buggers!!!

  107. Added a new option to the configuration file. This one allows the sysop
  108. to stop the game from asking the user to enter a new question.

  110. By request I have added a menu to the game. The user will be shown the menu
  111. before actually playing the game. The user may review either bulletin 
  112. before playing. Options are removed from the menu based on the configuration
  113. file and also when the game is played.

  135. Well my last change to the local display worked BUT sysops complained that
  136. they cannot play locally without seeing the answer. So if the DOOR is played
  137. locally then the answer will not appear on the local screen.
  138. The 7/6 version was just to change the version number in the door.

  142. Boy I sure did screw this one up!!! In v8.08 I decided to show the local
  143. system the correct answer. Well that worked fine except on the third guess
  144. the user seen the answer! Nice guy HUH!!!
  145. I believe its fixed now! I am really surprised that no one reported this one,
  146. not even my users.

  149. will cause problems with the configuration file.

  163. Due to many request from non-PCBoard sysops I have made a change to the 
  164. configuration file. There is now two (2) lines for the name of the bulletin,
  165. and two (2) lines for the Points Bulletin if used.

  167. The program CONVCFG.EXE will perform the conversions for you:
  168.   1) It will ask you if you want to convert the configuration file.
  169.   2) It will prompt you for names of the NON-COLOR and COLOR bulletins.
  170.   3) It will prompt you for the name of the Points NON-COLOR and COLOR 
  171.      Bulletins            (Is that COLOUR or COLOR?)
